RAW REHAB AND WELLNESS

Where the sky is the limit

Do you choose the light, or the dark side

Choosing between cash-based services and insurance supported services can be like choosing between an object and it shadow, similar at a glance but fundamentally very different. Continue to scroll to learn why this is the case to make an informed decision regarding your provider.

WORKING TOGETHER

Insurance accepting Physical Therapist operate under a different set of rules

01

Insurance

Billing insurance companies come with specific documentation requirements which limits interventions which a therepist will be able to offer.

02

Self-Pay

Cash-based PT allows clinicians the freedom to perform the inventions best fit for a client without time constraint.

03

Reimbursement

Insurance companies are a middle man with regard to services and commonly sway clinician decision making to maintain company expectations for employee performance.

04

Reimbursement rates

The services that you want most are also the least supported by insurance companies and lead little to no compensation for insurance accepting providers. Manual therapy is has the lowest unit to reimbursement ratio of any common intervention by a physical therapist.

Sole Providers are not subject to productivity standards of companies with multiple employees

At Raw Rehab and Wellness, your provider serves as the front desk, clinician, and billing department. This promotes consistent continuation of communication between provider and client. Providers offering physical therapy, wellness, and related services have greater overhead cost to employ front desk staff, billing staff, and direct patient care support staff. This commonly incentivizes companies to see a greater volume of patients and requires more reliance on unlicensed support staff.

I'll guide you to amazing places

Thorough examination by a Doctor of Physical Therap

Assessment designed based on your specific complaints

Complaints adressed may include though are not limited to pain, mobility deficits, coordination deficits, posture deficits, ergonomic deficits, balance impairment, dizziness, and headaches.

Individualized

Quality over Quantity

Not every exercise has the same value with regard to your presentation. Exercise presecription by a licensed DPT reduces the duration of intervention need to reach you particular goals. I provide rationale and education regarding particular exercise choices.

Clinician and participant administered

The AHA recommends 30 minutes of stretch/ day.

I will stretch you as apporiate based on your presentation and will teach you how to properly stretch yourself to speed up your progress towards your goals. Depending on the nature of your impairment, stretching can improve your muscle and other soft tissue performance for carryover to funtional activities.

Restore your ability to execute tasks

Compensation vs remediation

Depending on the nature of your impairment, you may or may not be able to return to task execution in a similar manner to the way that you did before your impairment began. Ii will help you develop strategies to improve you performance the your daily activities including compensatory stratgies if your original movement patterns have a poor prognosis for return.

Immediate performance improvements

I am proficient in a number of manual therapy techniques which usually lead to immediate improvement in obejectively measured mobility and immediate reduction in pain with previously painful tasks. Manual techniques include soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilization, manual tissue release techniques, and joint manipulation, inlcuding the entire spine. Physical therapist can manipulate the joints of the body and reinforce immediate mobility improvements with complimentary exercises.

Let me do the work

Dry Needing

  •  inserting thin, sterile needles into specific muscle trigger points, or knots, to relieve pain and improve movement. Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling focuses on addressing musculoskeletal pain by targeting muscle tightness and dysfunction. It is used to treat conditions like muscle strains, joint issues, and chronic pain, and is typically part of a larger physical therapy treatment plan.

Electric stimulation

  • I use of a small device that sends low-voltage electrical currents through electrodes placed on the skin. These electrical pulses stimulate nerves to help reduce pain by blocking pain signals to the brain and promoting the release of endorphins. You may be more apporpiate to recieve e-stim may be us alone or in combination with dry needling to enhance pain relief and promote muscle relaxation, depending on the specific treatment plan and individual patient needs.

Paraffin Wax treatment

  • This treatment involves dipping the hands, feet, or other areas in warm, melted paraffin wax. The wax helps retain heat and improve circulation, providing soothing relief for joint stiffness, muscle pain, and conditions like arthritis. Once applied, the wax forms a coating that traps heat, which can reduce inflammation and increase flexibility.

Meet your Provider, Dr. Michael Rawlins, DPT

I recieved a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Randolph-Macon College (RMC) in Ashland, VA. While at RMC I was a football player all 4 years and sustained a number of injuries, the most servere being complete rupture of both of my achilles tendons. These injuries and my peaking interest in PT resulted in my participation in years of physical therapy before going on to work as a technician at my teams Physical Therapist's private practice. I attended Western Carolina University for DPT school, an institution known for excellence as one of the best Physical Therapy educations in the state of North Carolina. I have over 5 years of experience working with clients presenting with various impairments and injuries in the muscle-skeltal and neurological realms.
